Vsl tour 26 Jan - Maersk Charlotte

we were being cordinally invited by Maersk to their vsl.
this was the 3rd time been to PSA. 2nd time on board a vsl. 1st time going to pasir panjang (PPT). previously was at tanjong pagar (TPT).
it wasn't a large one - 6000 plus teus. i wish i could on board its largest 1 though.
but Emma maersk is no longer the largest.
anyway it was another eye-opener for me ;)

panorama shot from the vsl down.
it was less busier than TPT.
perhaps due to the economy.

loading & unloading in progress

clip of the unloading process

designated "parking lots" with crane for containers

containers (DC/RF) awaiting for loading

saw that terrible dent.
wonder how much does the insurance co needs to pay out

the blue vsl is the 1 we are going to board.

getting closer. . .

and finally we reached.

staircase up to vsl.
coming sown was a little challenging cos my feet were cramped before i reached the ground.

listening to the Captain attentively.
he was a Danish.

group pic.
as usual, i looked damn ugly.
oh ya! we need to wore the helmet for safety purposes.
if only we had a full gear on, we might be able to go to the container area.

control room.
what if 1 button was being accidentally switch on?

the place where the captain works.
this is also where he review the loading planner given by the planner.
a container can be easily located by entering its number.

the engine room!

closer view.

the kitchen.
we were all surprised cos it was spick & span.
and it looks like a resturant kitchen!

the cake mixer.

dinning room
the layout of the food was so professionally done - looks like a resturant's salad bar
the guy was a steward.
do they need a stewardess? hahahaha

last pic before departing.

p/s: had also seen their recreation rooms/ sick bay/ food storage room etc. also had gained more knowledge from the Captain. climbing 6 stories high of steep staircases. could feel my heart pounding after we reached the highest. i wonder how the lift looks like. Sad to say, it was not operating. but the door looks exactly like any other room doors.

overall, it was an enriching & wonderful experience. once again, it has rekindled my passion in the shipping industry :)
